Turns out that it’s not “beginning to look a lot like Christmas for many Australians… In fact, just 51 per cent of people say they are looking forward to cop this year, according to a new survey by online payments giant PayPal.


Which means that 49% OF PEOPLE are Not Excited For The Silly Season if my math is correct.
They report that over a third of Aussies say they’ll be spending less money on Christmas this year in an effort to trim the fat from our celebrations.


This really comes as no surprise, as cost of living and cost-of-living pressures has become the main worry for people in Australia. Increasing interest rates, high inflation, cost of living and the war in Ukraine were among the top concerns of respondents. according to a survey conducted by beyond blue last month.

Back to the Paypal survey, they found that some Australians have even suggested to help save money this Christmas, they’re going to wait until the Boxing day sales to do their gift shopping.


As 60 per cent of Australians plan to spend less than $500 on Christmas this year and one in six hope to spend under $200. The average in previous years, according to website Finder is $1,232 per person.
Pro tip: do what I did over 20 years ago, I said to extended family and friends, don’t buy me anything, I won’t buy you anything and i’ll buy myself something that I want instead so no one wastes money… simple!
