SHOW: #001

Do you enjoy a drink?

Do you sometimes drink too much?

Have you ever been booted from a pub or venue for being a little too tipsy?

Well, if you answered yes to that last question, pay close attention. How would you feel if you were sent to a “Time-Out” zone to sober up instead of being ejected from the venue.. like a naught naughty child?

Liquor licensing laws are set to undergo their first major review since they were introduced in 2007.

A discussion paper canvassing the possible reforms comes ahead of the first major review of laws governing the service of alcohol in NSW pubs, clubs, restaurants, retail and takeaway stores Time-out zones or “harm reduction areas” are being proposed for all licensed venues, to avoid intoxicated patrons being removed from the premises while they are vulnerable.

Now I understand why this is being done, you don’t want to boot an intoxicated person out of your venue only for them to… get hurt.. in a way that a drunk intoxicated person can… but, nanny state much?

I’m not sure how i’d feel about being put in the naught corner for being too drunk on a night out. Because, you know it won’t be comfortable, you’d have a grumpy security guard standing there telling you when you can and can’t leave, there will be other heavily intoxicated people near you, a spew bucket in the corner and if your lucky a glass of water to help sober up from a dirty pitcher.

I’m not one who likes to be detained against my will, and that is what this is, it’s a no from me.
