New data out today has revealed that the number of households carry energy debt, has increased by 39%, this is people who have more than 2 1/2 thousand dollars in unpaid energy bill debt, and are on some form of repayment plan.
That is a total 170 thousand Australians in this situation… and we are only just at the beginning of this energy crisis.
Federal treasury has warned that prices will increase by 50% over the next two years – do the math, this is not good.
To help with this, the federal government wants to put a price cap on coal and gas, but Queensland and South Australia are rejecting this, say essentially that it is up to individual states to invest in their own coal and gas supplies to lower their own prices rather than cap their states sales preventing investment and revenue from sales
