Let’s put our serious hats on as we file this next segment under – Covid update 10 billion 5 hundred and sixty two.
As the ABC has reported that those, like me, who have not have had covid yet, are likely to get it with the latest strain doing the rounds.
Only one-in-five recently detected cases are reinfections, which suggests that by having a past infection it is a good defence against prevailing strains.
And as for the ongoing drama with the world taking aim at China spreading the infection with overseas travellers .
The federal government has dismissed Beijing’s threats of retaliation after its decision to impose mandatory testing on travellers flying into Australia amid a surge of COVID cases in China.
We spoke about this last week, and then I said I didn’t think that the federal government would impose mandatory testing for passengers on flights from China, they didn’t at first then they changed their mind and China is not happy!
As of today, Thursday, travellers from China will be forced to take a pre-departure COVID-19 test and record a negative result before making the journey to Australia – a move that has sparked anger from China’s authorities.
It follows a number of other countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, France, Canada, Japan and India, also imposing new testing regimes on travellers from China.
And how are China having dummy spit over this one, well, a spokesperson with China’s foreign ministry, said the moves to impose mandatory testing for travellers from China were not science-based and that some of these measures are disproportionate and simply unacceptable, oh give me a break – this coming from a country that SEALED ITS RESIDENTS IN THEIR APARTMENTS in an effort to get to Covid Zero. And asking people to take a test before they hop on a plane to go to another country is deemed unacceptable?! COME ON! COME ON!!!
But China, having another global tanty, has threatened to retaliate against countries imposing COVID-19 tests on travellers coming from China, I guess we wait watch and see how they will retaliate on this one.
